Friends and the feed
Progress lets you add the people you train with as friends and see each other's completed sessions in the Feed tab, with a kudos button to cheer them on. Friendship is mutual: both of you see each other, and you can end it from either side. You choose per session whether friends see it, and you can block anyone. There is no follower model and no public profile. Everything social needs an account and a connection; the rest of the app works without either.
Adding friends
- Sign in, then open Friends from the Feed tab.
- Give yourself a display name if you have not yet. Other people find you by that name. Names are not unique, so check the avatar before you add someone.
- Search for a name and tap Add. The other person sees a request and accepts or declines.
- Pending requests you sent show as Requested. Incoming ones wait at the top of the Friends page.
To remove a friend, open them in the Friends list and unfriend. You are both removed from each other's lists at once.
The feed
The Feed shows your own completed sessions and your friends' in one list, newest first. Each card shows who trained, the session name, duration, sets, total volume, the rating they gave it, and their note if they wrote one. A run shows its time and distance. Tap one of your own cards to open your log. Friends' cards are not tappable yet.
Tap the kudos button on a friend's session to like it. One kudos per person per session, and you cannot kudos your own.
The feed needs a connection. It is not stored on the phone, so offline it shows an empty state.
What friends see, and what they never see
Friends see:
- Every session you finish and share, with its name, time, duration, your rating, your note, and the reps, weights, durations and distances of its sets. The names of the exercises are not shown.
- Your display name and avatar. Nothing else from your profile, not your bio.
Friends never see:
- Sessions you have not finished, or ones you deleted.
- Your weight, body stats, injuries, diet, supplements, progress photos, recovery scores, or anything from Apple Health.
- The heart rate and route of a run, or where you trained.
- Your conversations with the coach.
- The name of a private workout you built. If you log a workout you created, the feed shows the name of that session, not the workout in your library.
Choosing what to share
Each session has a Share with friends switch. It is on for your first session; after that it starts the way you left it last time. You can change it after saving, from the session in your history. A session that is not shared stays out of every friend's feed, and also out of your own feed; turning sharing off later removes it from friends' feeds. Kudos on a session you stop sharing are kept but hidden until you share it again.
Blocking
Open the … menu on a friend, a request or a search result and choose Block. Blocking ends your friendship, and from then on neither of you sees the other in search, the feed or kudos. The other person is not told; to them it looks like you unfriended them. Friend requests from someone you blocked never reach you.
Your blocked people are listed at the bottom of the Friends page under Blocked people. Unblock removes the block, but does not bring the friendship back: either of you can send a new request.
Sharing workouts
You cannot publish a workout or exercise you built for others to use. The Public option that once appeared in the web version is turned off until sharing is built properly. Your custom content is yours alone.
Notifications
Progress does not send push notifications for friend requests or kudos yet. Open the Friends page or the feed to see what is new.
