Account and sync

An account is optional. Without one, Progress keeps everything on your phone. With one, your training syncs to your account and comes back on a reinstall or a new phone. The account you signed in with stays your account, online or offline, until you sign out yourself.

Creating an account

  1. Open Settings and tap Sign in on the Sync across devices card, or tap Sign in on the Feed tab. The welcome screens on first launch do not ask you to sign in.
  2. Tick I'm 16 or older and I agree to the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. Both documents are linked right below the checkboxes. Progress is for people aged 16 and over.
  3. Choose Sign in with Apple or Continue with email. Email sign-up sends a confirmation link.
  4. Everything you logged before signing up is claimed by the new account and uploaded.

Progress keeps a record in your account that you ticked both boxes, with the date and the version of the terms you accepted. The record cannot be changed afterwards. It is included in your data export and removed when you delete your account. Sign in with Apple cannot tell a new account from a returning one, so it asks for both boxes every time you use it.

If the confirmation email does not arrive or the link has expired

Check your spam folder first. To get a new email:

  1. In the app, try to sign in with your email and password. When Progress says your email isn't confirmed yet, tap Resend confirmation email. The "Check your email" screen right after sign-up has the same button.
  2. If you opened a link that has expired, the web page it opens says so. Enter your email there and tap Resend confirmation email.

You can request a new email once a minute. Only the newest link works. Opening it confirms your account, and then you can sign in in the app.

One signed-in account at a time. If you sign in on a phone that holds another account's data, Progress asks before erasing it.

What syncs

Once you are signed in:

  • Always: workout sessions and sets, your own exercises, training plans and their progress (including the workouts inside them), planned days, saved sports, and your profile name and picture.
  • After consent: weight, diet, injuries, supplements, body stats and personal information, cardio runs with heart rate and routes, and progress photos. The consent sheet appears the first time you open one of those trackers. Saying Not now keeps the tracker working on your phone. You can turn each stream on or off later under Settings → Privacy → Health data sync.

What stays on your phone

  • Steps, sleep and recovery scores are read live from Apple Health and never uploaded.
  • Conversations with the on-device AI coach.
  • Focus mode settings and app allowlists.
  • Local notifications and reminders.
  • Workouts you build yourself (outside a plan) and your favourites. Syncing them is coming.
  • Your kg or lb choice. Set it on each phone for now.

Reinstalling or changing phones

Sign in with the same account and your history downloads again. This includes sessions, plans, injuries, weight, cardio, and photos you had consented to sync. Data you logged only on the phone and never synced (for example while signed out, or a health stream you kept off) is gone with the old phone.

Offline

Log as normal. Uploads wait for a connection and retry when the app comes back to the foreground or the network returns. An expired session or a failed connection never signs you out and never hides your data.

Signing out

Signing out (Settings → Account → Sign out) ends the session. Nothing is deleted from the phone. Some trackers, such as weight, cardio, photos and supplements, hide your account's entries while you are signed out and show them again when you sign back in. You can keep logging signed out, and it syncs the next time you sign in.

If a different account signs in on the same phone, Progress asks what to do with the data already there: Erase and continue wipes this phone and restores the new account's own data, Cancel signs the new account back out and leaves everything untouched. Deleting an account altogether is a separate step under Privacy settings.

Apple Watch

Sessions logged on the watch land on the phone the next time you open Progress there, and upload from the phone. The watch never signs in on its own.
